NSW Small Business COVID-19 Support Grant - $10,000
If your small business or non-profit organisation has experienced a 75% decline in revenue as a result of COVID-19, you may be eligible for the small business support grant of up to $10,000.
This grant supports the ongoing operations of small businesses highly impacted from the COVID-19 pandemic following the NSW Public Health Order of 31 March 2020 (click here).
The order led to the closure of businesses including pubs, restaurants, recreation facilities, churches, community facilities amongst others – refer to Part 4 of the order.
For small businesses that are not on the list of highly impacted industries under the Order, a letter from an accountant confirming the decline in turnover will be required.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this grant, you must:
- be based in NSW
- be a small business
What is a Small Business?
Small business and non-profit organisations are defined as entities who:
- have between 1-19 employees (a sole trader counts as an employee of their own business)
- have an annual turnover of more than $75,000 (a Business Activity Statement must be provided as evidence)
has total Australian wages below the NSW Government 2019-20 payroll tax threshold of $900,000; - have an Australian Business Number as at 1 March 2020, are based in NSW and employed staff as at 1 March 2020 (or was a sole trader);
- are highly impacted by the NSW Government Covid-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 issued on 31 March 2020, defined as a decline in turnover of 75 per cent compared to the equivalent period (of at least two weeks) in 2019; and
- have unavoidable business costs not otherwise the subject of other NSW and Commonwealth Government financial assistance measures.
Funds may only be used for unavoidable business expenses that are not supported by other government funding. These expenses include, but are not limited to:
- utilities
- council rates
- telecommunication charges
- insurance payments
- professional advice
- wages for an employee not eligible for JobKeeper payments
- franchise fees
